Differentiation

"A differentiated classroom should still feel like a community.  It shouldn't feel like we are in three different classrooms." -  Nancy Anderson

I love to read the story "Swimmy" by Leo Lionni.  Swimmy is the black fish who is trying to find his place in the world.  It is much like our children.  They are not sure where they fit in.  As teachers, we can help them by giving them different activites and different types of instruction to help them belong in the classroom.  If we as teachers unite together to cover the little black fish with opportunities to learn in a variety of ways, then we won't have as many fish falling by the wayside.
